Last of the Great Scouts
Written in 1899 in response to an increasing demand for an authentic biography of “Buffalo Bill, ” the author provides a more accurate and encompassing history of the life of Col. William F. Cody. Told by his sister, this version draws upon earlier works of other authors including General P. H. Sheridan and Colonel’s Inman and Ingraham along with her brother to tell a more complete story. Though known as the rough frontier character “Buffalo Bill” - a boy Indian slayer, champion buffalo hunter, brave soldier, daring scout, intrepid frontiersman and famous exhibitor, Ms. Cody also includes earlier family history. From his years of devotion to his widowed mother to his role in the westward expansion of this nation, this biography provides a well-rounded look at this famous man.
